It's official- we're the white trash neighbors.

Chris is super excited about the new gigantic canopy he purchased for our upcoming college reunion beach trip. It showed up ( in a box) on my doorstep the other morning and I could barely scoot it into the entry way it was so heavy. Josh probably could have got it for me, but he was napping. Don't want to mess with the naps. So, when Chris got home from work, he was like a little kid that just got a new bike. He opened the box and read the directions and ran into the bedroom to tell me all the cool things about his canopy (like the interior pocket for your cell phone or wallet). Cool. He asked if I would mind if he set it up in the living room. "Sure honey". Did I mention it is 10:30 at night? And did I mention the thing is 15 feet x 15 feet???? Uhhh... maybe tomorrow, okay?

So, this weekend he set it up in the backyard- an appropriate place, but now we are THOSE neighbors that have a big tent-thingy in their backyard. Oh yes, you can see it over the fence... it is THAT big. It was loads of fun driving in everyday seeing a big dome tent arising from my fence. The dogs loved it, something new for them to chase each other around. We did have some good family time under the big canopy, until the mosquitoes came and ate us. In his defense, it was very thoughtful and sweet of Chris to get it. He kept talking about how all the kids ( and one particular tender-skinned grown-up friend) can sit under it and rest and have protection against UV Rays, etc. Such a good and thoughtful dad.

Other happenings this weekend included Josh's first trip to the dog park to watch Murphy and Jackson swim in the lake. He loves the dogs. I had him in the stroller the whole time to protect him from other dogs and the sun. It's only at the dog park do people not pay any attention to a cute baby in a stroller. I think his feelings were hurt. So, to help his ego, that afternoon we went to a firm pool party and showed Josh off to all of Chris' work friends. He was styling' in his Hawaiian shirt and shorts. In all it was a great weekend, we hope yours was as well.
