Clearly, this mama of two can't keep up with a simple little weekly blog post, so I have enlisted a helper! I pay him in animal crackers and fruit snacks and he is quite cute to look at during our long composing sessions. Josh is my blog assistant for this random post.
Josh LOVES doing Mad Libs. Do you all remember those? They give you a story and you fill in the blanks with a verb, adjective, or noun. The words and resulting stories make him giggle, and it make me die with laughter watching him pick all the "boy" words to fill in blanks... "fart, burp, squishy, porcupine, smelly..." you get the idea. So, I decided to make our lives into a Mad Libs story (of sorts).
I will present Josh with a long list of terms for him to choice from to help with each picture explanation. Each list will have the "correct" word as well as a bunch of random non-related words. Each word can only be used once and he will not be seeing the pictures until he has completed his assignment.
In the italics is the noun/verb/adjective that Josh choose to complete the story.
In the (parenthesis) is the actual noun/verb/adjective that will complete the story.
I hope this works. If nothing else, it will be a fun project for Josh.
Have fun!
The other day, we woke up and went to the carnival (lake) to get some chopsticks (exercise). Josh is really good at riding his cupcake (bike) and is super slimy (fast). Emily loves taking a nap in her helicopter (stroller) while Mommy runs. These are our favorite (favorite) days.
Many times, we find a sausage (park) to play at in the middle of our bike ride. Josh loves to climb this lizard (caterpillar) and pretend he is the king of the watermelons (world).
One Sunday morning, Josh and I made special socks (signs) to cheer on his teacher, Mrs. Clark, who was burping (running) her first ever marathon. It was a fast (rainy) day, but we had such a creepy (great) time supporting Josh's mailman (teacher).
At dribbling (swimming) lessons, Josh learned how to squirt (dive) through a hula hoop (hula hoop)! Just like a submarine (circus) performer!
Emily is sure growing (growing) big! She is 137 (five) months and already 5 (17.5 pounds)! Here she is at the president's (doctor's) office and happy (happy) as always!
We were stinky (happy) to take Josh to his Elementary School's end of the year snowman (carnival). He had a great time and especially sneezed (loved) this human gerbil ball that he got to sleep (roll) in.
At the carnival (carnival), there was also a "make your own goldfish (sno-cone)" stand. It was a big hit for Josh and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Mommy).
Before the torpedo (High School Baseball) game, Josh put on his coolest gorilla (cap) and was ready to cheer on the sharks (home team).
Emily is just too cute (cute) for words. Sometimes we just sit and bite (stare) at her cuteness. Look at her tiny, curly eggplants (toes) and sweet, smily nostrils (eyes). She is a happy little robot (girl).
Meme and Barn came in town to visit (visit) with us a few weeks ago. Emily loved (loved) having her grandparents around to nibble (smile) at.
(He did really good on this one. I think he is catching on...)
Chris and Josh were so yummy (lucky) a few weeks ago when they got toilets (tickets) to the Ranger's game! Josh's favorite player (player) is Josh Hamilton, for obvious reasons. He also very much enjoyed swinging (eating) hot dogs and cotton candy!
We went to the moon (Austin) for Cinco de Mayo. Aunt Wipies (Pickles) had a splendid (splendid) fiesta for her friends. The chairs (food) and wind chimes (company) were absolute perfection (perfection).
Josh got a super cool exersaucer (bubble machine) for the summer. The other day, we were having a sticker (bubble) party at bounce house land (outside). Josh was very loved (concerned) that the bubbles would cook (pop) in her face so he was scooterizing (attacking) each bubble before they floated over to Emily.
While in Disneyland (Austin), we had the absolute pleasure and honor of welcoming a new spaceship (baby) to the world. Matthewjones' is the happy (proud) new big brother (brother) of Jonathan Lamar and he couldn't be more shiny (perfect).
Sweet Emily! She has turned from a fussy (fussy) newborn into a frozen and melty (content and happy) baby. We are abundantly poked (grateful) for this change. She is an absolute minnow (doll).
A few days after eating (celebrating) the Jones' speckled (new) baby, we had double blessings (blessings) arrive in our neighborhood. Luke's identical twin Legos (brothers)!
They are teeny tiny and super lumpy (cute).

I am working in a coffee shop today and "Aunt Wipies" just made me SCREAM! Clever, clever, clever! Love you all big!
That was totally awesome. I love the way some of his madlib entries oddly aligned and expanded the meaning of the post. Of particular note was the one that had eggplants (toes).
