This is Us, Right Now.

HE...
... has been enjoying the cool fall afternoons and spending time on his long-lost scooter which was in hibernation during the heat of the summer. He is growing like a weed. I can't keep up with him. All the size 4 pants I bought at the end of August are already too short for him... and he's NOT EVEN 4 YET!!! The only thing that is too big in his closet is this Ranger's inspired, "GOT JOSH" shirt I found for him on the side of the road at one of those make-shift T-Shirt stores. The gentleman selling the shirt must have thought I was a HUGE Josh Hamilton fan (which I am of course) when he heard my squeal when I found this shirt for "the real Josh."

... got to come face to face with some dinosaurs at an outdoor nature museum last week. Here he is "ROARING" at the T. Rex. This picture reminds me of when my mother-in-law's tiny little 5 pound dog barks and growls at my 100 pound lab. We are all just a bunch of wild animals, some more than others.

... enjoyed mocking the dinosaurs, by running up to each of them and roaring in their fake and frozen faces. Poor dinosaurs. The exhibit pieces moved, sprayed water, and roared at the kids as they walked along the path. The museum staff were in the process of hanging Christmas lights along the path for a special "night at the museum" viewing of the dinos. Can you just imagine how creepy that would be???
... and John couldn't get enough of the talking dinosaurs. There are several things I love about this picture. First, the delicately placed and oh, so cheerful Christmas ornaments sitting right next to the angry Styracosaurus. Second, Josh and John staring at it in wonder, but no fear at all.

... has been busy making his wish list for Santa. While Luke was at our house the other day, the Toys 'R Us catalog came in the mail (thanks a lot, Toys R US). Luke and Josh got down to business discussing the pros and cons of each toy. It was as if they were in a business meeting, these two, with their eyes fixed and pens in hand. Lucky for Katie and Travis, Luke circled the $125 Star Wars toy that is as tall as I am.

... tried to have a slumber party at Katie's house the other night, but this is how it turned out. Not much sleeping, lots of giggling.

... loved hanging out with all his buddies at John M's A&M vs. Tech football watching party. Needless to say, our family was a wee bit out of place. But, we went to show our support and wore our colors proudly. We have quite the Big 12 representation here in our little neighborhood.

SHE...

... truthfully, is exhausted.
... has been up to my eye-balls in crafts for my wonderful MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) group. Thankfully, I have a fabulous husband who has been my "little" helper in a "big" way. Like when he helped me buy and cut 90 ten-foot boards for our big project of the semester... ... a family growth chart. Here is the link for instructions on how to make this great project.

Or you can just join our MOPs group and learn to make fun crafts like this every other week while enjoying a gourmet brunch and the best girl-talk you can ask for.
... is motivated. The LiveStrong weekend in Austin inspired me so much that I signed up for the Austin Half Marathon. I am very, very excited. Unlike with the full marathon last year, fear of death and complete failure is not present with this excitement. Just pure happiness thinking about running 13.1 miles through my favorite city.

... is not your typical "Martha Stewart" crafty gal. Now that my eyes are open to the world of power tools and Home Depot supplies, the craft ideas are abundant. Chris and I made a great team while cutting over 600 1.5 x 1.5 cubes for another MOPS craft.

... thinks this is the cutest ornament that I will ever hang on my tree. Here is the link for instructions on how to make these easy Christmas ornaments. And if you don't want to adorn safety goggles, you can purchase pre-cut wooden cubes at your local craft store.

Our Poor House...

... is breaking.

Over the course of 7 days, the following occurred,
1. Hot Water Heater broke and started leaking.
2. Land line (remember those?) died a horrible and painfully loud death.
3. Washing Machine broke.
4. Internet went down, big time.
5. Bathroom light bulb went out. I know, not a big deal, but when 1-4 happen first, it becomes a big deal. Not to mention, my car battery and Chris' cell phone died that same week. Good time, good times.

HE...
... is currently bed-ridden and in isolation with a wicked-bad case of strep. throat. Good thing he has had an awesome few weeks preceding this illness to make up for it.

... was in heaven watching the Rangers as they made their way to the World Series. These two were so cute cuddled up next to each other on the couch watching the games as Chris explained the basic rules to Josh.
... has been titled, "Best MOPS Husband EVER" by several of my fellow MOPs moms thanks to all his amazing handy-man skills and help with our crafts this semester. I must say, he LOVES the fact my crafts involve power tools and sanding. He"pretends" to be soooo annoyed when I misplace his hammer and work gloves, but I know he loves it. Right, honey?
... had a once and a life-time (or hopefully not) opportuniuty to attend a World Series game.

... said watching the sun set over the sea of red and blue gave him chills on this perfect evening at the ballpark.
... enjoyed his first experience as one of Josh's soccer coaches. Both of my boys made me proud every Saturday on the field.
... is not embarrassed to say he attended a Nascar race this past weekend. He was also not too embarrassed to buy a Nascar baseball cap. Oh dear.
On the up side, he got some great videos for Josh of the cars zooming around the track and of the pit crew changing the tires. Oscar-worthy footage for my car-obsessed son.

That is us.
Right now.

If, by some chance, you decide you don't want to be on Steering anymore (and crush my heart and my soul to pieces in the process), we will take Chris. ;)
