We are in total summer mode here at our house. We have traded our tennis shoes for flip flops, cotton threads for water-friendly Lycra, and our school bag for a pool bag. Josh has taken to this new summer schedule of "all play all the time" quite nicely indeed. Here he is in his 80's inspired skater boy swim attire. I had nothing to do with this get-up. I am against all things 80's, but he insisted. So here I go reliving the dreadful 80's through my 3 year old.

Last weekend, Chris and Josh took a road trip to the hill country. Josh experienced his first taste of the Kerrville Folk Festival and camped out with Pa and Chris under the stars. Ok, I lie. He was safe and comfy in the fancy trailer with Granee, while the big boys slept in the tent. Josh enjoyed the folk music that his Pa loves so much and especially enjoyed the Trout Fishing in America children's concert. They sing about delightful things like, once-famous dinosaurs, partying all night with monsters, and green aliens living in your nose.
In other news, Josh just completed two weeks of Olympic-style swimming training. Watch out Micheal Phelps!! We were lucky enough to have a private class with all his best buddies and he loved every minute!
On the last day of class, they put on a "show" for the parents. All the kids showed off their newly acquired swimming skills. Josh can now swim all the way across the long length of the pool with a little assistance. This is making our evenings at our neighborhood pool completely awesome for Chris, me, and our frosty beverages.

To give you a little taste of what our schedule is like these days... we dipped our toes in THREE different pools in one day! After swimming lessons at Ms. Linda's pool, we headed to Mary Elizabeth's pool for some serious playtime. Josh and Mary Elizabeth spent almost two hours swimming back and forth from the step to the side. After a monster nap, we enjoyed a family outing to our neighborhood pool for dinner and an evening dip. What a day. What a summer.
As tradition, a few of my work friends and I went to the Scrapbook Convention last week. This is our fourth year, and although I don't scrapbook much at all anymore, it is still fun spending time with these lovely ladies and TRYING to get re-inspired to be crafty! In fact, we had so much fun at the convention that about 4.5 hours later...

...this little man made a grand entrance into the world! That's right, Faye shopped herself into labor and welcome Mitchell Henry later that evening. He is super handsome and cuddly.

Another big step in becoming a big boy! Josh has learned to dress himself!
So what if it takes him 37 minutes?
So what if 32 of those minutes are him running around the house completely naked?
So what if he regularly comes out with his pants on backwards, his shirt inside out, or (my favorite), his shirt on over his legs?
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a virtue.

Love your new layout! Love all of the summer fun you're having! Gosh these boys are getting so big!!!
I'm pretty sure that at the beach, Pickles and mb might experiment with a game called "Let's see how funny it is to put the wrong clothes on the wrong parts." Looking forward to it. xoox
