What says"fall" to you?
Football games, pumpkins, mittens, beautiful leaves falling to the ground?
For me, it is pumpkin spice lattes, warm candles, jeans, getting to run outside in the middle of the afternoon, and a lot of fun outdoor activities.
Our weekends have been packed with them and we have had so much fun adding Emily into our mix of annual fall festivities!
Friday nights at the High School Football stadium. Cool breeze, bags of popcorn, and lots neighbors to spend the evening with as we cheer on the high school. Josh loves playing in the stands with his friends and Emily enjoys all the people watching (and flirting)!
A few weeks ago, Team Jones made it up to visit and partake in all the crazy fun our town has to offer. As a little bonus treat, Stevo was even able to make it this year!
The Joneses had walked in the door and then minutes later, we were walking out of it on our way to Oktoberfest. The big AND little boys had all kinds of fun. Beer, food, games, bounce houses, candy, beer.
Here are Josh and Matt in the bounce house boxing pit.
A little scary.
And a little fantastic.
So, what do crazy people do the morning after spending the day drinking beer at Oktoberfest when it is in the low 40's outside?? They get into a tight little lycra get-up and jump into a lake to swim-bike-run their way to finish their first olympic distance triathlon!
That's right! Chris completed the triathlon that he has spent the last 6 months training for, and he did AMAZING!!! Despite the insane cold front that hit the day before, and our super busy weekend, he beat his goal time and finished strong! Brilliant lawyer by day. Awesome Daddy by night. Triathlete on the weekend! He kind of makes me sick with envy, but we are all so proud of him!!!
While waiting for Daddy to pass us, Josh got to play and act silly for all the spectators to see with his buddies Luke and Dylan. Their Daddy finished the race and did awesome as well!
Way to go, Matt!
Sweet Emily, was so cozy warm in her stroller, she fell right asleep.
Those Jones' are sure fun to have around, I tell ya.
They are game for anything.
Since we are such nice people, we gave Chris three WHOLE hours to rest his triathlon'd legs before we dragged him to the State Fair for the evening.
First thing is first... Fletcher's Corny Dog!!!!
Check!
Next up... Picture with Big Tex!
We have been going to the State Fair for years and every year, we get our family and friends picture in front of Big Tex. It's just what you "do" at the fair. You get a corny dog, you get fried stuff, you spend a fortune on tickets, and you get a picture with Tex. Lucky for us, we went the weekend we did, because a few weeks later...
The unthinkable happened.
Big Tex got fried, and not in a good "fried cookie dough" sort of way.
It was really a sad day here. I'm not kidding. I think I cried.
Very disturbing to watch him burn, but so glad no one was hurt.
And, they are already rebuilding him.
People placed Corny Dogs (in leu of flowers) at his final resting place.
Cute.
Very cute.
I love humanity.
Matt and Josh on one of their favorite rides! This was the first ride they ever went on at the fair and I remember I was sooooo nervous as my little two year old climbed aboard all by himself! This year, their knees barely fit in the car!
I mustache you for some cotton candy, please.
Heehee.
The threesome at their silliest.
Matt and Josh celebrating their awesomeness after completing the big slide seen in the background.
Little tip to future state fair goers: if you stay long enough, you may run into a seriously impressive parade that walks through the fair grounds around 7:30pm. Nice little treat to enjoy as we spent the last of our tickets on funnel cake.
Because we just didn't do enough, the next day we (and the rest of the city) spent a beautiful day at the Arboretum and enjoyed the pumpkin patch.
Seriously, what do they do with all those pumpkins?
The next weekend, we headed to Granee and Pa's house for a nice visit.
The kids were so happy to be with them! And as always, Gayle spoiled us silly with her Halloween treats, yummy food, and snuggles.
(He didn't really drive with her, no worries).
Longhorn cuties.
While in Wimberley, our favorite team was getting whipped by OU, but we still wore our colors with pride.
Joshie loving on "his baby."
Josh got to paint a pumpkin and was very proud of his masterpiece.
Lucky us, we ran into the Wimbereley pet parade and got to see these funny creatures along the way.
A giant turtle with a spider on his shell- you don't see that everyday.
What a great little trip to the Hill Country!
Next up... Halloween!!!!
Get ready for some serious cuteness.
Hopefully, I will get the blog done before Christmas.

These posts leave me delighted... and exhausted. How did you manage all that fun at one time?! Way to go, friends.
