Getting to know you.

Everyday we get to know you a little better and enjoy you a little more. You still sleep a lot, but you now stay awake and flash us those cute smiles and sweet gurgles for a few minutes before "asking" for your swing to go back to sleep. Three hours later, you are up again and the "Emily Show" starts over. Here are a few things we have learned about you in that past 7 weeks.

You love to kick your little legs like you are spinning a bicycle.
You get this from your Daddy.

You HATE baths.
You are bitter about it for a good 2-3 hours afterwards.

You LOVE to be outside.
Even when Mommy dresses you like a pink bunny.

You get a wicked case of the hiccups after every meal.
We are talking, deep, man-worthy hiccups.
It's impressive.

You will only sleep if you are cuddled up in someones arms or swaying away in your swing.
It only took us 4 weeks to figure this out.
It was a fun 4 weeks.

You LOVE your big brother.
(I took this picture after Josh brought Emily this guitar because he thought she looked "bored just sitting there staring at the ceiling." He proceeded to sing her made up rock songs using the guitar.)

He makes you smile. Every time. Your first smiles were for him.

You even don't mind that he sometimes invades your personal space.

You love to stretch out.
And when you stretch out, you flex both your little feet.
It's pretty cute.
Even though it is usually accompanied by a nice big toot.

In the past 5 days, you have learned a new cry.
It's loud and dramatic (much like these pants).
And it assures you get your way.

So does this face.

You very much enjoy having nap time in the jogging stroller at the lake.
I enjoy it too.

You really don't like to be sitting still. My friends say it's because you got used to running around so much while in the womb. Even the vibrating chair isn't exciting enough for you.

You make "The Claw" with your hands when you are really, really, really mad.
It's a little disturbing.

Sometimes, you look very worried.

I remind you that Daddy and I have everything under control.
This is usually a lie, but you don't need to know that.
Then, you smile again.

You have the sweetest little baby yawns.
And the most perfect baby's breath.
Even at 2 am.

We love watching you figure out this crazy world, Emily.
We can't wait to see what we will learn about you tomorrow.

My favorites are the stretchy arms and the pouty mouth. Adorable! And, I cannot believe how much she has changed and filled out since we were there 2 weeks ago! Praise God for swings and how they help you maintain a wee bit of sanity.
