Emily's Firsts!

Emily has experienced a lot of "firsts" over the past three weeks. Her first trip to Target, her first walk around the neighborhood, her first time to the park, her first interaction with Lego Star Wars stuck in her face- important milestones like these keep us busy every day. Here are a few shots of some of Emily's other important "firsts."

The first bath at home went about as expected. She hates being cold and naked, so you can imagine how much she loved her first bath. Life is rough.

Josh was our helper during bath time. He made sure Emily's towel was heated and did a great job snuggling her until she was warm and cozy after her bath. She looks more than a little skeptical of what we were doing to her. Another important "first" that Josh helped us with was her first bottle! After practicing a few months ago on our baby friend, Lucas, Josh has deemed himself a bottle-feeding expert. He couldn't wait for Emily to turn two weeks so he could feed her a bottle. He did a great job and Emily took the bottle perfectly. They made their baby nurse Mommy proud! Once bathed and fed, what is a girl to do??? Go to the mall of course!! Yes, I'm crazy and took Emily on her first mall visit a few days before Christmas. My parents were there to help and Emily just slept the entire time in her seat. The First Mall Visit is a big deal to a girl, asleep or not.

Emily's first doctor's visit at one week went great. After waiting over an hour to be seen, Emily was a rock star for the Dr. and for the RN taking her blood for a standard test. She barely blinked when they poked her. Tough girl!!

Uncle Phil and Aunt Anna arrived just in time to celebrate Christmas with us! Here is Emily getting her first snuggles from her Uncle Phil.

On Christmas Eve, Emily AND Josh enjoyed their first church service! Josh has never been to "big church " service and is usually in Sunday school. But, this year, he was old enough to attend the service with us and of course, Emily came along for the ride. It was lots of fun having them with us. At the end of the service, the entire congregation sang "Oh Holy Night" and watched as the pitch black sanctuary became lit by everyones candles. Josh loved it, so did I .

And finally, Emily's first Christmas!!!! There will be plenty more on Christmas coming up next. But, I had to include this picture of one of her three Christmas outfits. It was a great Christmas and a perfect time to celebrate our greatest little gift this year.
