Memorial Day Beach Trip

We just returned from a fantastic trip to the coast with our great friends, The Jones! It almost didn't happen, but I am so glad we were able to pull the trip off because it was a great holiday weekend at the beach.
Our friendship with the Jones' began long, long ago when these two guys were just teenagers. Steven and Chris grew up together and now, years and years later, they are still buddies with odd little quirks that Tricia and I attribute solely to their East Texas roots. It's an easy, convenient, and plausible excuse; I mean, they call grocery carts "buggies" where they come from.

Like fathers, like sons. Matthewjones and Josh are two peas in a pod and their friendship is as solid as it is silly.

We had lots to do at the beach this weekend. Here are just a few of our favorite beach activities.

Playing trucks in the sand.

Building Lego cars with the Lego Master, Steven.

Building sand castles (and promptly destroying them) with the Castle Master, Chris.

Snuggling on the Lazy Boy playing Angry Birds on Mom's Phone.

Pretending to have food to feed the birds. Not nice. Stupid birds, I don't think they ever figured it out.

Taking a nap in the sand.

Relaxing after a long year at pre-school. The boy deserves a break, what with all that finger painting, noodle-stringing, and snack-eating he was forced to do.

Playing with Daddy in the pool. Cheers!

These boys make the beach the happiest place on earth. Each of them brought their own comedy to the trip. Will (or Willy Worm, as Josh as named him) and his endless sprints around the beach with the biggest smile of joy you can imagine. Matthewjones reading bible stories to Josh and Will. And Josh, telling everyone "knock knock jokes" that may or may not make any sense at all, but they still make you laugh.

Our little family at the beach. It gets better every time we go!
